Ring first

Please. It's one person and I'm often under a machine or out collecting parts. Turning up unannounced usually means a locked door and a wasted trip.

Finding it

Sidney Works is the brick block off Sidney Street in the Cultural Industries Quarter, five minutes from the station. Workshop 4 is through the yard, ground floor at the back. The sign is small and faded and I keep meaning to replace it.

Parking

A couple of spaces in the yard, otherwise the pay-and-display on Sidney Street. If you're dropping off something heavy, ring ahead and I'll keep a space.

Postal work

Most of what I do arrives by post. Take the film out, wrap the lamp separately, double-box, tracked service, and put a note inside with your name, number and what the machine does. I'll photograph it on arrival and email you before touching anything.

Waiting time

Three to six weeks normally. Longer if a part has to be made or found. I'd rather quote honestly and be early than promise a fortnight and disappoint you — after twenty-eight years I've done both and I know which one people remember.
